Presentation of the region
M’hamid El Ghizlane is located in south-eastern Morocco, in the outskirts of the desert. The houses in this town are built entirely of brick clay and straw to keep out the heat. Qualified as the gateway of the desert, M'Hamid El Ghizlane is the latest palm of the Draa Valley, in total about six, and is considered one of the most beautiful forests in the valley. Upstream of the dam Ahmed El Mansour in the Wadi Draa was built in 1972 with the goal of moderation and distribution of major flood waters, which were lost to beyond M'hamid El Ghizlane.
